When the grass starts greening up and the trees are flowering it is prep- time for the great summer outdoors adventures, beyond being time to wax those seasoned hiking boots, buy a couple of new pairs of hiking socks online & pull out those comfy layers to protect from the elements when they come.
This prep time is also a GREAT time to find the foods that fuel without weighing a literal ton but pack a nutritional punch to include in your adventure. That is where we at My Dottie Foods comes in. But first let me intro some of the family hikers.
Father Time aka Steve Hawley is currently hiking the AT (Appalachian Trail) south to north. Yup he is the second generation to be a thru hiker and with a sponsor to boot. He was named AT chaplain 2025. He just celebrated crossing over the 400-mile marker in late April. You can virtually hike with him on You Tube -#Father Time Hikes. It’s a great channel. His wife “Evergreen” joined him last week to resupply him. His 4-day resupply looks like this:
Right off a recent FB posting

Among the well thought out food items, right on the bottom row in the middle, are some Dottie Foods soups. These single serve instants are where I come into the picture. As his uncle and having hiked the southern portion fifty years ago I am excited to be a small part of his journey.
Ya see Dottie, Father Times grandma, is a large part of naming the company in building out these great soups, our goal is bold real flavors, one step soup prep. A meal that provides loads of calories, with healthy ingredients and high nutrient values. We considered the pack weight-Grams per burnable calorie too. Our average is 4 calories per gram of mix and while savoring some great flavors like Roasted Tomato Bisque, Cream of Spinach & Onion Parmesan, you are taking in some nutrients that will help you blaze up those hills and trails.
Here is another hiker doing just that:

Here is our spring social media posting telling that story another way.

Batcha those boots would seem a lot lighter after sipping some savory soup
So YES, it is exciting to prep up for your blue-sky adventures. Whether you are a thru hiker on the AT, the PCT, the CDT or a local state park trail load your pack with some of your favorite foods. But be sure to include some of My Dottie Foods soups; all available at www.MyDottieFoods.com. I will ship them to your trail address or to your home for free, #GETSOME
